Most people who are planning to launch a social media campaign are full of questions — and they should be: the game changes every day. However, there are certain basic rules of thumb that your small business can follow that will allow you to build a solid online following that will make you sales.
Some tips for best results:
- How long should you spend on social media every day? About a half an hour.
- Where should you have a presence? For sure, Facebook, Google+, Twitter
- Anywhere else? Whereever you think your client is living on the interwebs. Twenty-somthings? Tumblr. Interested in decor and style? Pinterest.
- Sounds difficult? Stay at it. Keep posting. It will pay off.
- How do I keep organized? Use a tool like Hootsuite or Tweetdeck to help you organize and schedule your posts.
- When should I post? Post and tweet during off-work busy hours. Weekdays: 7-10 am and 7-10 pm. Weekends during the day.

Yes, expect the plan to change but, trust me, a plan maximizes your chance of reaching your goals.
